Philadelphia is the largest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the fifth largest city in the United States with a population of over 1.5 million people. Philadelphia was originally founded in 1682 by William Penn. Following the American Revolution, Philadelphia was the capital of the United States. Major symbols of American freedom such as the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall are located in Philadelphia. In the 1950s Philadelphia began to experience a decline in population as many families left for the suburbs. As the 21st century approached, Philadelphia began to realize a renaissance as people began moving back to the city.
Philadelphia has a wide variety of industries which employ people in many fields including manufacturing, oil refining, food processing, health care, biotechnology, and financial services. Philadelphia is home to many large employers including Aramark, Comcast, CIGNA, Crown Holdings, Glaxo Smith Kline, Lincoln Financial Group, several large hospitals and universities, Pep Boys and Sunoco. Philadelphia also serves as the United States headquarters for major foreign companies such as ACE, Ltd, AgustaWestland and Aker American Shipping.
Philadelphia is the home of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania where our firm frequently litigates cases on behalf of our clients, many of whom have been employed by large Philadelphia employers.
